Reflections on the So-called ‘Jewish Question’

Introduction: A Bit of Family History

I am half-Jewish by blood. My maternal grandfather’s family fled to Britain from Russia in the late 19th century during the pogroms. My maternal grandmother came from a prominent Jewish banking family — and through her I can trace my Jewish heritage back to the 15th century.

In addition to the inescapable pride I feel at that lineage, I am thankful that I am a descendant of people who, to paraphrase Judah P. Benjamin, were on Mount Zion receiving the Commandments from the lord God whilst my gentile ancestors were herding swine and worshiping devils in the forests of northern Europe. I am of the people who made the first Covenant with God, and of the people amongst whom the Logos was made flesh. How could I feel anything but honour that I, of the billions of people on the planet, am descended from the Children of Israel?

But in addition to being half Jewish by blood, I am also Polish by blood. As I’ve described elsewhere on this blog, my Polish family came from Kresy, the Eastern Borderlands, and suffered greatly at the hands of the NKVD. My great-grandfather was shot as part of the order to execute 25,700 Polish “nationalists and counterrevolutionaries”, which resulted in the infamous Katyn massacre. My grandfather — at age 14 — was jailed for being a “spy” (his only crimes were being well-born and Polish) and sent to the Lubyanka prison where he was tortured and beaten before being shipped off to a Gulag prison in the Urals.

Why is this at all relevant? Most of the Soviet tormentors to whom my Polish family was subjected and with whom it interacted were Jews, and my grandfather saw his family primarily as the victims of Jews — and not Russians (“real Russians are good, Christian people”, he would tell me when, as a child, I asked him about his pre-war experiences).

“About 40 percent of high-ranking NKVD officers had Jewish nationality recorded in their identity documents, as did more than half of the NKVD generals,” writes Yale University professor Timothy Snyder in Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin. The rank-and-file of the NKVD was initially also noticeably Jewish in composition. “The Great Terror could be, and by many would be, blamed on the Jews,” Snyder adds.

In Revolution from Abroad, Jan T. Gross — hardly a dyed-in-the-wool anti-Semite by any wild stretch of the imagination — recounts how as the Red Army rolled through the borderlands, in village after village, as Poles fled, it was the Jews and often only the Jews who rushed out to welcome the communist invaders as liberators. Why?

Defining the Jewish Question 

Before one can address the Jewish Question one must first define it. Because of the Nazi’s “Final Solution” to the Jewish Question, the very term “the Jewish Question” itself is often thought of as inherently anti-Semitic, but it is merely the same question facing any alien minority group in a host society. Historically, that question generally had answers in three forms: assimilation, permanent alienation, or relocation.

As Nationalism took hold in Europe, the question of whether or not Jews could or should integrate and assimilate into these relatively new, ethnically-homogenous nation-states became of central importance [Of course, it wasn’t an issue in Christian feudal kingdoms, but that’s a topic for another essay].

But there was another dimension to the Jewish Question, because Jews weren’t just any ethnic group — they were an ethno-religious group that was in many ways inherently inimical to Europe’s traditional Christian order. And, at the very least, a disproportionately high number of Jews would be and have been involved in attempts to destroy that order.

The Damning Historical Record

By 1920 one finds Winston Churchill, writing in the Sunday Herald, dividing Jews into “good Jews and bad Jews” or “national and international Jews”. On “national” Jews Churchill writes that: “there are the Jews who, dwelling in every country throughout the world, identify themselves with that country, enter into its national life, and, while adhering faithfully to their own religion, regard themselves as citizens in the fullest sense of the State which has received them. Such a Jew living in England would say, “I am an Englishman practising the Jewish faith.”

Then Churchill addresses the “international Jews”:

In violent opposition to all this sphere of Jewish effort rise the schemes of the International Jews. The adherents of this sinister confederacy are mostly men reared up among the unhappy populations of countries where Jews are persecuted on account of their race. Most, if not all, of them have forsaken the faith of their forefathers, and divorced from their minds all spiritual hopes of the next world. This movement among the Jews is not new. From the days of Spartacus-Weishaupt to those of Karl Marx, and down to Trotsky (Russia), Bela Kun (Hungary), Rosa Luxembourg (Germany), and Emma Goldman (United States), this world-wide conspiracy for the overthrow of civilisation and for the reconstitution of society on the basis of arrested development, of envious malevolence, and impossible equality, has been steadily growing. It played, as a modern writer, Mrs. Webster, has so ably shown, a definitely recognisable part in the tragedy of the French Revolution. It has been the mainspring of every subversive movement during the Nineteenth Century; and now at last this band of extraordinary personalities from the underworld of the great cities of Europe and America have gripped the Russian people by the hair of their heads and have become practically the undisputed masters of that enormous empire. 

On the subject of Jewish involvement with 20th century Bolshevism, one could easily add to the names that Churchill lists. In addition to Trotsky, two other members of the first Politburo — Zinoviev and Sokolnikov — were Jews, and Kamenev was half-Jewish. Lenin had one Jewish grandparent. In addition to Snyder’s stunning statistics about the NKVD referenced above, it’s also worth noting that the first head of the NKVD, Genrikh Yagoda, arguably one of the most prolific mass murderers of the 20th century, was also a Jew.

But as Churchill points out, Jewish involvement in radical movements was not limited to 20th century Bolshevism. Indeed Jews have had significant involvement in almost every political and social movement that has sought to subvert Christian Civilization and eradicate every last trace of the Imperium in Europe.

Churchill notes the role the Jews played in the French Revolution, but they were also pivotal in that first great revolt against Order and Tradition, the Protestant Reformation, the wellspring whence derives all modern forms of revolution in the West. It was the Jews to whom Luther turned in order to help him translate the Latin Vulgate into German.

And of course Jewish families like the Rothschilds and Warburgs were key to the creation of the modern Money Power; super-capitalism, while certainly less violent and generally more voluntary than Bolshevism, is no less inimical to Christianity and destructive of tradition, order, and hierarchy which found expression and protection in pre-industrial, feudal society. Indeed Western capitalists bankrolled Russian communists for the very reason that a materialist, socialist Russia was ultimately better for business than an Orthodox Russia under the Tsar. But Jewish activity inimical to the traditional Christian order is not confined to the relative depths of history, nor did it end with the establishment of the Soviet Union.

As has been extensively documented  by others on the dissident right, what is frequently called political correctness or cultural marxism is largely the result of the work of the neo-Marxist Frankfurt school and its promotion of critical theory, which was almost exclusively Jewish. Herbert Marcuse, Jewish, Theodor Adorno, half-Jewish, Max Horkeimer, Jewish, Walter Benjamin, Jewish, Erich Fromm, Jewish, Friedrich Pollock, Jewish, Leo Löwenthal, Jewish, Siegfried Kracauer, Jewish, and Otto Kirchheimer, Jewish. These are some of the key architects of the ghastly modern popular culture and values.

In the post-war world Jews remained at the vanguard of revolution and disorder. Hollywood, that great engine of immorality, is a thoroughly Jewish entity, and deserved every last ounce of scrutiny it received during the glory days of H.U.A.C. Hollywood’s uglier but more honest twin, the pornography industry, was likewise built from the ground up almost entirely by Jews. Reuben Sturman, considered the ‘Walt Disney of Porn’, was Jewish. Irving Klaw and Bunny Yeager, the producer/photographer duo who made pin up model Bettie Page a household name, were also Jews.

The demonic form of feminism espoused by so many Western women today (that has destroyed the nuclear family and turned droves of gentile women into willing shiksas for Weinstein and Co.) largely exists thanks to the work of Jewess Betty Friedan (nee Goldstein) and half-Jewish CIA asset Gloria Steinem.

So too were Jews vastly overrepresented in the 1960s anti-war movement. Every single founding member of the Yippies —  Abbie and Anita Hoffman, Jerry Rubin, Nancy Kurshan, and Paul Krassner — was Jewish. Michael Lerner, founder of the radical Seattle Liberation Front, is now a progressive rabbi.

One could go on. What’s more, apparent Jewish proclivity for anti-Christian, anti-Western activity continues to this day. The immediate, viral popularity of Alt-Right’s infamous echo marks ((( ))) reflects this. Neoconservatism, which removed all traces of authentic conservatism and right-wingery from the American conservative movement and embraced foreign adventurism and social liberalism, is a predominantly Jewish endeavor.

Likewise, the voices in the Western media that offer the loudest denunciations of Poland and Hungary, those last bastions of safety and sanity in a Europe gone mad, and the voices in so-called conservative media that offer the loudest denunciations of populism and Donald Trump, are often Jewish (or, peculiarly enough, Irish-American, but the Eternal Paddy is a topic for another essay). The two most vile, vocal, self-appointed political activists in Hollywood, Sarah Silverman and Chelsea Handler, are also Jewish. There is very much a pattern here.

In Search of Anti-Semitism

It is in seeking to explain the very clear historical record that one encounters and risks wading into the swamps of anti-semitism. Recognizing Jews’ obvious historic proclivity for revolutionary activity is not (and should not be considered) anti-semitic — however, the notion of an organized Jewish conspiracy, or the notion that said proclivity is some sort of biological imperative, are certainly deserving of the anti-semitic label. Indeed the former is not only ludicrously laughable but also demonstrably false, and one would hope this author’s politics would be enough to dispel the latter.

A historical pattern and contemporary nepotism do not a grand conspiracy make. Moreover, the vast majority of Jews have historically been as nameless, faceless, and non-influential as the vast majority of gentile peasantry. And as for Kevin MacDonald’s theory of some kind of group bio-evolutionary strategy, it seems to this author that the explanation for Jewish tendencies towards Leftism are a bit more mundane and ideological.

Indeed there are I believe a number of important factors or influences that largely or possibly entirely explain the historical record. Unfortunately I lack the space in this essay to do a deep dive into each, so a brief survey will have to suffice.

The first and most obvious (and perhaps most important) factor Churchill identifies in the same essay quoted above:

Disraeli, the Jew Prime Minister of England, and Leader of the Conservative Party, who was always true to his race and proud of his origin, said on a well-known occasion: “The Lord deals with the nations as the nations deal with the Jews.” Certainly when we look at the miserable state of Russia, where of all countries in the world the Jews were the most cruelly treated, and contrast it with the fortunes of our own country, which seems to have been so providentially preserved amid the awful perils of these times, we must admit that nothing that has since happened in the history of the world has falsified the truth of Disraeli’s confident assertion…

…The adherents of this sinister confederacy are mostly men reared up among the unhappy populations of countries where Jews are persecuted on account of their race…

Disraeli may have been a bit more honest had he said that the Jews deal with the nations as the nations deal with the Jews. Simply put, it was Russia, Poland, and Germany in which Jews historically faced the most persecution and discrimination, and it was Russia, Poland, and Germany that produced the most communist Jews.

Another influence which should be noted in perhaps explaining Ashkenazi Jews’ tendency toward revolution was the development of the spiritual movements Sabbateanism and then (especially) Frankism during the 17th and 18th centuries, in the same areas of Europe that would see significant Jewish communist activity. Both advanced antinominalism, which encourages people to transgress all moral boundaries. Ideas have consequences. 

Yet another historic influence surely worth considering is the fact that modern Rabbinical, Talmudic Judaism as we know it is not the authentic, traditional Judaism of the Temple (which had Kohanim and may have looked to us a lot more like traditional Christianity than contemporary Judaism), and in fact developed largely in response to — and opposition against — Christianity during late antiquity. Combined with the fact that many early Christians believed that the Jews were solely responsible for the murder of Christ, social conflict between Christian and Jew was inevitable. For those looking to learn more about the possible theological influences on historic Jewish revolutionary activity, the work of Michael Hoffman and E. Michael Jones, respectively, is strongly recommended.

Lastly, one must also of course consider intelligence and IQ when examining apparent Jewish proclivity to revolutionary behavior. Available data strongly suggests that Ashkenazi Jews are on average significantly more intelligent than white gentiles. Therefore it is perhaps no surprise that Jews often ended up at the top of revolutionary movements, just as they ended up at the top of many conservative movements, the financial world, the scientific world, and the intellectual world. This is quite easy to do when one is always the smartest person in the room.

The Anti-Semitism Trap

Unfortunately a significant number of those on the Dissident Right have, like their ideological forbears in the early 20th century, fixated solely on Jewry as the reason for the misery of the Modern Age. Indeed it has become disconcertingly common to hear many of those on the Alt-Right talk about Jews the way Black Lives Matter talks about whites.

The truth is that Jews were never particularly significant in numbers compared to gentiles, and this is even more true today. While Jewish leaders and intellectuals certainly played pivotal roles in the development of Leftism, the destruction wrought by Leftism would have been negligible had legions of European gentiles not eagerly and willingly joined its ranks.

Removing Jews from society now will not undo the work of communist Jews in the 19th and 20th centuries. Banning Jewish groups like the ADL will not change the fact that a majority of gentiles today appear to have liberal and left-wing views when it comes to questions of race and nation. Throwing every neoconservative in prison would not reverse decades of foreign adventurism nor change the fact that the average so-called conservative in America today is really just a classical liberal who doesn’t want to pay taxes.

The traditionalist mind holds that different peoples are, well, different. But if there is one universal trait shared by mankind it seems to be the desire to blame others for our own problems. Given the extent of the role Jews played in revolutionary movements, it would — and clearly is — very easy to lay blame for the horrors of the Modern Age firmly and solely at their feet. But that doesn’t mean one should.

As discussed in previous posts, one must surely consider the influence of Protestantism and the Enlightenment in creating the current mess in which we find ourselves. Marx, Adorno, and Lenin may have had Jewish blood, but Rousseau, Voltaire, Descartes, Luther, and Calvin most certainly did not. Then of course, as some of the Eastern Fathers have shown convincingly, there is the potential for grave error inherent in the Greek pagan philosophy of Absolute Divine Simplicity, which was adopted by and greatly influenced and shaped Church doctrine in the West. There is far more at play here than the historical misdeeds of a handful of Jews.

Conclusion: Name, But Don’t Lay Total Blame, On the Jews

It is called the “Jewish Question” — and not the “Jewish Answer” — for a reason. Recognizing Jews’ disproportionately great contribution and influence on radical, revolutionary movements throughout history is not only historically valid but academically and intellectually useful in understanding how we got to where we are as a society.  Blaming the Jews and the Jews alone, however, for our present situation, and operating under the assumption that eliminating their influence would solve all of our problems, is neither historically valid nor academically and intellectually useful at all.

Indeed doing so is counterproductive nonsense that obscures other factors vitally important to understanding the development of Leftism and the unleashing of dark Satanic forces upon the Christian West, leaving us impotent and blind in the true fight — which is and always has been religious and spiritual in nature. On a more practical level it also opens one up to easy criticism and censure from the mainstream.

The simple fact is that those currently interested in the Jewish Question are 200 years too late. Emancipation and quasi-assimilation happened across Europe and the ideological Leftist cat is well and truly out of the bag. Those concerned with how to fix their societies and return to some semblance of normalcy would do well to stop obsessing over the Jews and start worrying about real solutions to return secular Europeans to the ways and values of their Christian forbears.
